What’s there to say about me?
I’m an amateur photographer with a passion for writing, and passing on knowledge. You may think that my reviews are biased, but I have tried many different types of software, and camera techniques to allow me to write these reviews and tutorials.
I am fascinated by the transformation of a scene from reality, onto the medium of captured light – as on a digital sensor, or on traditional film.
In the beginning, I fancied myself as a professional photographer. Give up the day job and spend my time behind the lens creating beautiful images for people to not only “wow” over, but to part with their hard earned cash for.
However being a professional photographer is so much more than just getting behind the lens with the camera. It’s about selling yourself to your customers, and providing a service they want to buy. This might not always mean taking images of things you enjoy shooting. And for me, photography is a hobby. I don’t have the dedication required to turn it into a full time job, and with a family to support, I can’t afford to take the risks.
So instead, I would rather natter on about my hobby on more of a photo tips blog. Trying to pass on what I’ve learned, as well as my opinions on techniques, software, and tools that allow me to further my skills and develop within that hobby.
I sincerely hope you enjoy reading the content I’m putting up here.
I use normal and infra-red converted Fuji cameras for my photography as well as my phone, and a 35mm Oly Trip. I generally use Ilford HP5+ and Ilford FP4+ (sometimes pushed to ISO400) and develop at home using Patterson tanks in Ilfosol developer. Negs are scanned. My photos are displayed on Flickr.
I have a wife, two daughters, three cats and 10 chickens. Females outnumber males in our house significantly! Oscar and I are in a definite minority.
